This Saturday, February 9th took place the presentation of Manzana Postobón Team Continental Pro for the new season 2019. Manzana Postobón Team is the only Latin American team in the Continental Pro division of the cycling world. This is the third year of the pink team since its debut in this category
The event took place at the sports headquarters of the Atlético Nacional de Medellín soccer team in Guarne, Antioquia, and was led by Miguel Fernando Escobar Penagos, president of Postobón and Alejandro Restrepo, manager of Manzana Postobón Team, who introduced to fans of cycling, sports authorities and media the 16 cyclists of the 2019 squad.
At the presentation ceremony, was also present on behalf of our brand Luca Gios, Managing Director of Gios International, who presented the AEROLITE model that the team will use during this year’s competitions.
For the 2019 season, the team seeks to exceed its performance of the previous year and for this reason the pink team sponsored by GIOS comes renewed with a distinctly Colombian team and new athletes that bring human quality, experience and talent.
The new cyclists that arrive at the 2019 team are: Jhonatan Restrepo, from the World Tour category; Carlos Julián Quintero, runner of national and international trajectory; Daniel Jaramillo, climber, with experience in races in Asia and the United States; Luis Carlos Chía, young sprinter; Bryan Gómez, sprinter who started this year with a triumph at the Circuit Feria de Manizales; Nicolás Sáenz, climber who proceeds from the Lizarte team (Spain); Diego Ochoa, another share of experience in the pink team; and the last of this renewed team, Omar Mendoza, an off-road man with national and international background.
The new faces join the cyclists that remain in the team: Aldemar Reyes, Jhojan Garcia, Bernardo Suaza, Juan Felipe Osorio, Juan Jose Amador, Wilmar Paredes, Yecid Sierra and Jordan Parra.
This year Manzana Postobón Team Continental Pro will face a demanding calendar of competitions, which already started at the National Road Championships, where it won three silver medals, and it is now preparing to attend the Tour Colombia 2.1 this February 12th. At an international level, the Team expects to participate in approximately 27 races, starting in April with the Itzulia Basque Country (Basque Country) of the World Tour. The pink team will travel throughout the season to several countries in Europe and Asia trying to replicate and overcome the success of the year 2018.
